• Short-growing, cool season annual lentil
• Good drought and frost tolerance
• Adapted to all soil types; does best on soils with good drainage
• Most commonly grown as a green manure crop in semi-arid regions
• Can be spring or fall seeded
• Not reliably winter hardy in the upper Midwest
